You, as a member of the Catholic Church in Eastern Washington, are asked to combine your gift with that of others to raise $10 Million. Each member of our diocesan family is integral to the success of this endeavor. Our heritage was created by the generous gifts of people who enjoyed far fewer of life's "good things" than we do. As a good steward, you are called upon to recognize that all you have, God has loaned to you for a specific period of time. You are asked simply to return to God in the same measure that God has given to you. For these reasons, everyone is asked to give, but not everyone is asked to give the same amount. There is a gift plan (shown below) that can be used as a guideline in making your decision. Please consider it carefully and select the gift that best expresses your gift of gratitude. Your gift can be made as a pledge payable over a 4 year period on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis. Whatever you decide to contribute should have some relationship to how generous God has been to you. If you are financially able to pledge $10,000, $25,000, $50,000 or even $100,000, we ask you to be leaders in our campaign with these substantial gifts. Not everyone can make the same size gift but everyone can make the same size sacrifice.
As You Plan Your Gift, Please Consider.
Tax Advantages of Thoughtful GivingFederal and state laws on income and inheritance taxes encourage charitable giving. All annual contributions to our campaign are tax deductible for those who itemize their deductions. It is particularly advantageous for some people to contribute appreciated securities, real property, or other valuables. The current fair market value of securities or property is deductible and, by transferring these assets to the Church, the donors pay no capital gains tax. For substantial gifts of property, other than marketable securities, the IRS requires an appraisal. Because each family situation is unique, we encouraged you to discuss your commitments within your family. You may also wish to discuss it with your financial advisor to see which plan would be most beneficial to you and to the future of our Church. If you have a question or would like more information on how to make a gift of securities please contact the campaign office at (509) 358-4280. |
